There are many events making the customs of Lesbos come alive offering visitors a glimpse into the strong local traditions.
The neighbouring village of Perama celebrates the feast day of Saint Panteleimon every 27 July with music, horses taking the lead role and large crowds. On the eve of the 15th of August, the island celebrates even more. Locals and visitors start walking during the night to get to the church of Agiassos. Many also spend the night in the churchyard. On 6 September, a feast with live music, food and traditional dancing is organised in the port of Evriaki to honour the miracle in pre-Christian times.
